Jay and Marilyn Schultz

Rambling Rose Creations is owned and operated by Marilyn and Jay Schultz. Marilyn has had the creative urge from early childhood and this has led her down many avenues. She calls it a passion although some would call it an obsession. At the age of nine she began designing and sewing her own clothes, this led to the first rudimentary drawings. Through the years this passion has covered a wide genre of artistic endeavors.

In the early seventies she was drawing, designing, and creating custom macrame pieces. This endeavor sent her on a quest to design and make unique beads. She began learning the ceramic process from the ground up and became a Nationally Certified Ceramic Instructor and Master Air Brush Artist, opening her own shop. As life will do though plans to continue on with her artistic endeavors were put on hold for awhile and the mantra became: "When I retire, I am going to…"

Life however, had other plans and a health crisis became the turning point. What folly to keep up the old mantra, it changed to: "I will not pass up and opportunity that is presented to me today; instead I will embrace it and go with the flow." Decorative painting drew her attention and she began to study the arts once again. Out came the sketch pad, acrylic paints, oil paints, and brushes.

Happening upon a technique that used pen and ink with oil rouging (Mary Owens) Marilyn flew to Seattle to become a Certified Mary Owens Teacher. After she returned home Jay encouraged her to open a studio and begin teaching. She continues to study with other instructors and improve upon her creative ability.

Most importantly Jay plays a vital role in the continued growth and passion of the business. His support and assistance is the backbone of the business. He has begun to explore the arts and studying the various techniques. What a joy to be able to share this passion with your life partner! Marilyn paints with oils, pen/ink, acrylic, and watercolors and utilizes various surfaces. Jay paints with pen/ink and oils.
